My birthday...

On Nov. 2 I turned 30. I can't believe I am no longer in my 30's. Crazy. What's weird to me is that I am loving where I am in life right now so 30 is fantastic! For my birthday this year the girls and Tom made me cream of wheat (by request). We also went to the movie "UP". It was a fun day. On Nov. 3, I woke up and Tom came up with a plan to do "The 30 days of Michelle" or "The Month of Michelle". It started off with a nice letter and a coupon. When the "Month of Michelle" is over I am going to go into more detail on the blog what sweet things he has done.

Some of my favorite memories of birthday in the past are that my siblings would save their best Halloween candy for me and that is what I got for my birthday from them. I used to hate that I got candy, but now I look back, and see that it was a great sacrifice and very thoughtful. I also remember one year my Mom took a group of friends and me to JB's all you can eat ice cream. Big mistake for JB's...we sure had fun! I also remember getting a sewing machine for my 8th birthday. I thought that was the coolest gift and I remember wanting it very badly. A fun family tradition we had growing up was for my parents to take us out of school and go to lunch with just them. We also got to go shopping for whatever birthday present we wanted. My Mom was always good about making a big breakfast and playing the music box that played Happy Birthday. Grandma Ewing always made us a birthday cake too. My Mom also hung a Happy Birthday banner above the kitchen entrance. I loved that. I especially loved it when it stayed there for a couple of days after my birthday. Fun memories.
